Tempo was a 2nd highlight in 2022 (out of 7 BRWs I managed to record because they arrived so late during that time)
Tempo was named so because his rhythms had different types of tempo on them, some were speedier while others were waltz and slower. I have noticed and wondered this many times while I have recorded the birds – some rhythms are sung much more often than other rhythms, some are sung only once or twice. That’s why I do these song analysis for fun to find out how many times this specific BRW likes to repeat specific rhythms, what are the most common and less common rhythms and what is the total amount of unique rhythms this specific BRW has.
NOTE: When repeats occur, the green repeated rhythm parts are clickable so you can get to that specific song part in audio form!

Song length: 1 hour 17 minutes
Audio 1: Viiplrr üvii (Occurs during song: 4) (🕒 7 seconds)
First rhythm of Tempo, a simple one, consisting of 3 samples
“Vhiirplr” sample was also heard on Meekos singing. Also very common heard during BRW singing. The ending on “Viiplrr” sounds so watery like he does the rasperry thing 😀

Audio 2: Mist-kiivo (Occurs during song: 3) (🕒 27 seconds)
🕒 00:07: 2nd rhythm of Tempo, has a lovely, slightly melancholic tone on this part. “mistkiivo” is a common sample used by BRWs, this one is sung with slower tempo as I have heard this sample used by other BRWs and they have repeated this sample faster. This also always reminds me a word in Estonian “must” what means black.

Audio 3: Vhit tinkwraurw (Occurs during song: 5) (🕒 27 seconds)

Audio 4: Viu tiks tsipatsipa (Occurs during song: 6) (🕒 8 seconds)
🕒 00:39: 4th rhythm! Here he uses a sample “viu tirrs” without “tirrs” part. The “tsipatsipa”
part is interesting, like that part sounds like maracas.

Audio 5: Jüvi tsäk tsäk TRRRRRviu (Occurs during song: 4) (🕒 7 seconds)
🕒 00:47: 5th rhythm! I love when he sometimes becomes like a machine gun and shoots bunch of seeds out :D. It is an interesting sample, usually have heard this “Trrrrr” part on “Trrrrrriido” sample, looks like the “Trrrr” is a separate part 🙂 cause the “Vja” is part of a sample “Vja tututu”
, so he mixed two different parts of samples to make an unique version sample – “VjaTrrrrrr” with more power and force on the shotgun like part! That’s how the onomatopoeias also help to see how this bird uses samples by taking some parts there and some here and mixes it into totally new sample!
